Royal Mail – local heroes

The Royal Mail and its brands, The Post Office and Parcelforce, have had a difficult time in recent years. Chairman Alan Leighton was drafted in to turn around the organisation’s fortunes, but this involved enormous restructuring, job losses (30,000+) and an understandable effect on morale.

One of his prime objectives was to improve working conditions and the general atmosphere within the companies. Royal Mail needed to start rebuilding pride and morale among employees.

The Bank came up with the idea of ‘local heroes’, designed to bring back recognition for the good work that postal workers deliver, but also to promote appreciation among staff when they pull together to deliver that bit extra.

The resulting film encapsulates the postal worker as one of the local heroes in every community. It’s one of the films we are most proud of.
